Our Top Tips for UK Drivers in Europe
1. Carry all relevant documentation – alongside your VE103, make sure you keep your driving licence, proof of insurance, passport and any country-specific permits with you.
2. Know local laws – speed limits will be different to the UK; road signs vary cross Europe. For example, if you are travelling in France, you must carry a breathalyser kit, and in Spain, reflective jackets are mandatory.
3. Check vehicle requirements – items such as warning triangles, spare bulbs and high-visibility jackets are mandatory in several countries.
4. Prepare for Tolls and Low Emission Areas – many European countries have toll roads and low-emission zones, research your route and ensure you always have your debit/credit card and local currency to hand. Plan in advance.
