Maxus e-TERRON 9 Review - The UK’s First Electric Pickup Truck Arrives

05th Feb 2026

Electric cars and vans are commonplace on the UK roads but what’s been missing until recently is a fully electric pickup truck. That’s now changed though with the arrival of the Maxus e-TERRON 9, and we’ve had it with us for testing to see what this new entrant brings for fleets across the country.

A modern design

The first thing you will see with the Maxus e-TERRON 9 is the distinctive front-end design and grille. It carries a full LED light bar around the headlights and has protective cladding around the lower edges of the vehicle for added durability when in use across various terrains and work environments.

Pay Load and Space

At the back, the load bed measures just over 1.5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide and a payload of up to 620kg, there is plenty of room for tools and materials.

That space isn’t it though with the Maxus e-TERRON 9 front trunk (frunk) giving an additional 230 litres of extra storage.

One of the smartest features we found on the vehicle was the three-pin power sockets at the rear to allow you to run or charge equipment on site.

If towing is on your wish list, the e-TERRON 9 delivers a 3.5-tonne towing capacity which matches the one of the UK’s most popular pick-up trucks in the Ford Ranger.

Built for all conditions

The e-TERRON 9 is designed to cope with anything you may throw at it and with a wading depth of 550mm it certainly backs that statement up. The air suspension allows for a raised ride height when needed and extra flexibility when out on the job. Six driving moves ensure scenarios are covered in ease with piece of mind whether on tarmac, mud, gravel, adverse weather or uneven terrain.

Physical Buttons and Well Equipped

With many vehicles now going towards less is more when it comes to buttons, it’s refreshing to see physical buttons throughout the interior on the e-TERRON 9 along with the rear seats offering plenty of space and USB ports.

At the front, the cabin has your physical buttons for things such as climate control and radio selection as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Further to that there’s a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 360-degree camera which is supported by a clever blind spot camera which activates when indicating.

A large centre console provides excellent storage, including two phone holders, one of which offers wireless charging.

Electric Performance and Charging

When out on the road, the e-TERRON 9 has a smooth and quiet ride with instant torque even with a heavy load.
The 102.2kWh battery delivers a claimed range of up to 267 miles making it suitable for most use cases and with rapid charging from 20-80% of up to 40 minutes, downtime should be kept to a minimum.

Models and Pricing

The Maxus e-TERRON 9 is available in a Luxury and Premium specification with pricing starting from £53,000 plus VAT.
